My Upcoming Svalbard Expedition 2024
Svalbard has a special place in my heart. I am happy to announce that at the end of May this year, I will be going back on a sail together with Natural World Safaris. Located in the North Atlantic, Svalbard has its still and beautiful, but at the same time harsh nature, which I find so refreshing and fascinating. This arctic remote island is home to some fantastic wildlife, which I was incredibly lucky to experience during my latest trip. I would love to share some of the photos I took.
Arctic foxes are some of the most resilient and opportunistic animals. They survive by stealing eggs and scavenging the scraps left by polar bears. I spent several hours with this little animal who was eating the leftover reindeer carcass. After a while it became very comfortable with me, sometimes walking within a meter of me (3 feet). For a brief moment, it licked its mouth, winked, and went back to its business.
