Blood of the Earth

Liquid rock glows in the dark, spewing from the belly of the earth in violent explosions that can both create and destroy land and life. Volcanoes often seem so distant, like something from old myths and lore, a place humans can not, and should not go. As a photographer and filmmaker I took the first opportunity I could to document these landscapes, both for the sake of beauty, and to tell the story of their importance to life on Earth.

This Volcano is Fagradalsfjall of Iceland. But they are not just an earthly phenomena. They are found in our solar system and across the cosmos, in the interior of planets and moons with molten cores. They are creators and destroyers, a reshaping of the very land we stand on, and the life blood of our planet.
